Real Dirty Politics: Mayor Vince Gray‘s shadow campaign financier, Jeff Thompson, pleaded guilty to corruption charges in federal court today. Prosecutors say Gray knew about the shadow campaign, which the mayor, who is running for reelection, still vehemently denies. Yes, a mayor who (knowingly or unknowingly) won his election with illegal money is bad for democracy, and the people of the District either way. But with the April 1 Democratic primary just three weeks away, things are about to get real interesting in D.C. politics. +5
