Everybody Getting Tipsy: Here’s your weekly reminder that people in D.C. like to drink…a lot. D.C.’s average alcohol consumption was the second highest in the United States, according to a study from the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. The study found that D.C. residents drank about 3.89 gallons of booze per capita in 2012, the most recent year data is available. D.C. was topped by New Hampshire, where residents drank an average of 4.65 gallons. Better luck next year. (Note, as always in these studies, D.C. was being compared to states.) -1
