Finally, finally, D.C. commuters may be able to ride the city’s new streetcar line this year, at least if the acting director of the District Department of Transportation is to be believed. And last month, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority took over the Silver Line from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and is now aiming to open Metro’s newest branch by late this summer.

But we’ve already been here a few times, haven’t we? The H Street NE line of the streetcar was originally slated to open last year, as was the first stretch of the Silver Line. Getting fed up? Yup, us too.

So let’s circumvent our local transportation bureaucrats. Want a Silver Line? Want a streetcar? Boom! Here are a Silver Line train and a streetcar that you can assemble at home. Happy riding.
