Time really flies when you’re watching a baby panda’s every move on a live video feed.
Bao Bao turns one on Saturday, and the National Zoo is having a party to celebrate the pampered cub.
Friends of the National Zoo members are invited to a private Bao Bao viewing this Saturday, August 23 from 9 to 11 a.m., according to an invitation posted on the Cleveland Park neighborhood email list. Members will receive free commemorative panda party hats—-for kids only, unfortunately—-and a slice of panda birthday cake.
There will be a public celebration afterward at the zoo’s Clint Fields Conversation Plaza and around the panda yards from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In honor of Bao Bao’s birthday, the National Zoo has compiled some of the cub’s greatest pandacam clips, which generally involve a lot of sleeping and eating.
If you want to wish the panda a happy birthday, the National Zoo asks you to do so using the hashtag #BaoBaoBday.
Bao Bao’s birthday, like everything else Panda-related, will likely rake in some big bucks for the zoo. In Bao Bao’s first year, the National Zoo expected to see more visitors to the zoo and sell more pricey merchandise.
