The Case for Virginia: D.C. and Maryland kids had to go to school today. But those lucky kids in Virginia have an extra week of summer so that they can go on roller coasters. The state has a longstanding law—-the Kings Dominion Law, which has survived many legislative battles—-that says schools must start after Labor Day to give the tourism industry an extra boost and allow families to spend more money in amusement parks like Kings Dominion. +4
