Eleven months after it began, Chris Brown‘s D.C. legal spectacle is finally over.

The singer pleaded guilty today to a misdemeanor charge of simple assault, admitting in D.C. Superior Court that he punched a man outside the W Hotel downtown last October after the man tried to jump in a picture with him.

Brown, according to TMZ, apologized in court and said he just wanted the case to go away.

U.S. Attorney General for D.C. Ron Machen issued a press release on this simple assault case, saying that even celebrities will be held accountable in the D.C. court system.

“As Chris Brown himself has now finally acknowledged, he punched a man in the face without provocation in the District of Columbia,” Machen said in a press release. “No matter your status or celebrity, you will be held accountable for such conduct in our city.”

Under the plea agreement, Brown was sentenced to time already served and will not spend any additional time in jail. Brown served two days in D.C. jail and about 80 days for a probation violation in California related to this case.

Brown must also pay $150 in court fines.
