There have been a lot of steps in the long journey toward completing the H Street streetcar project. So, for what it’s worth, the streetcar is now one step closer to opening.
The District Department of Transportation announced today that the streetcar will start its “Pre-Revenue Operations” phase next Monday—-a phase in which the streetcars will run during their projected hours and time intervals, albeit with no passengers.
The proposed hours, which are now open for public comment, are:
- Monday-Thursday: 6:00 a.m. – midnight
- Friday: 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.
- Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.
- Sundays and Holidays: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
If you have a comment regarding the proposed hours, send them to publicspace.policy@dc.gov until Sept. 27 .
There’s no official date for the streetcar to actually open, though officials say it should be happen by year’s end.
