President John F. Kennedy has been dead for more than 50 years, but this weekend, crews filming the 2017 flick “Jackie”—starring Natalie Portman as JFK’s eponymous widow—are causing street closures.
The Metropolitan Police Department and the District Department of Transportation say the following major streets will be closed intermittently over the weekend due to the Pablo Larraín-directed movie.
- 17th Street NW between E Street NW and Constitution Avenue NW on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- 15th Street NW between New York Avenue NW and E Street NW on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- 14th Street NW between E and F streets NW on Sunday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
“Motorists traveling in the area of this event may experience delays and should consider alternative routes if possible,” a traffic advisory sent out Friday explains. “[MPD and DDOT] would like to remind motorists to pay full attention whenever operating any motor vehicle and to be mindful of heavy pedestrian traffic that may be associated with special events. These street closings are subject to change without notice based upon unanticipated events and prevailing conditions.”
Hope you didn’t have brunch planned at Old Ebbitt Grill on Sunday. Then again, maybe you would catch a glimpse of the “Black Swan” actress herself.
