Rod Blum, a congressman from Iowa who’s worth more than $15 million, suggested on Twitter earlier this week that what the District really needs is not voting rights like the ones afforded to his constituents (lol) but a recession. Why? Because he saw some cranes in Southwest.

This is a popular idea with House Freedom Caucus member and women’s healthcare foe Blum, who may lose his seat in November. Failed presidential candidate Jeb Bush also adopted this idea.

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton went on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal today to politely suggest that Blum keep the District and its non-federally funded projects out of his mouth.
