When the Capitals meet the Pittsburgh Penguins on the ice tonight in Game 1 of their second round playoff series, Metrorail will remain open an hour past its normal closing time of midnight to accommodate fans leaving from Verizon Center.

The transit agency says the following stations will remain open to riders wanting to enter the rail system:

  • Gallery Place (7th & F Street entrance only)
  • Judiciary Square (F Street entrance only)
  • Metro Center (11th & G Street entrance only)

“Entrances at all other Metro stations will close at their normal times, but customers will be able to exit at all stations during the additional hour of service,” Metro says. “Customers are advised to enter the system no later than 12:45 a.m. to ensure that they make the last trains.”

The puck drops at 8 p.m.
