Deacon, of course, is a Baltimorean who records for a D.C. label, and Gregg Gillis is known to hang with congressmen.)Joanna Newsom (It’s probably not worth it to question the intentions of a musician who’s defined by her inscrutability, but her chosen stops for her orchestral tour are still odd. Grass Valley, CA, makes sense, being her hometown, not to mention a place with a folk-music pedigree. But—Milwaukee but not Chicago? Los Angeles but not San Francisco? Atlanta but not…anyplace else?)
