Got some rock n’ roll dreams? Big dreams? The kind that can’t be satisfied opening for an all-acoustic Jethro Tull cover band down at the Grog and Tankard? The kind of dreams that sit still sandwiched in between Elevulus and Daath on an eight-band bill at Jaxx?
Your lucky day is here! A group of Grammy winning artists who have worked with producers like the Dust Brothers and been dubbed “genius” by none other than Bono are looking for a D.C. band to open up their show at the 930 Club.
And the band is—Hanson!
Here are the details:
Hanson Local Band Contest
Starting today (Wednesday, August 15), promising local bands nationwide will have the opportunity to open for pop/rock group Hanson on the band’s upcoming U.S. tour. If you feel you’ve got what it takes to nab the D.C. slot when they play at 9:30 Club, head to www.hanson.net and upload your strongest track. Members of Hanson.net and Hanson’s MySpace community will vote for their four favorites for each city.
Clips of the four D.C. area bands will be played in a 60 second spot on a to be determined local radio station, where listeners can vote for their favorite clip via text message. The vote will be tallied, and the winner will open Hanson’s 9:30 Club show on September 16.
For official rules or to sign up your band, visit www.hanson.net.
