Hilly Kristal, who founded CBGB in 1973, died yesterday. Reports that his funeral will take place fifth on a bill of nine could not be confirmed.

Growing up, I always heard how gross CBGB’s bathrooms were supposed to be. People constantly talked about those bathrooms like they were some initiation rite for music fans. When I finally got to see them for myself, I was surprised that they weren’t really any worse than the ones in most nightclubs.
