Jessica Hopper is linking to an amazing collection of photographs by Mike Brodie, a 20-something artist who left his Pensacola, Fla., home at 18 to hop trains across the country. (More on Brodie here.) The photos aren’t strictly music-related, but once upon a time I attended enough shows at 921 Gilman to recognize these folks in the abstract, and I’ve read enough to know it’s not a life you’d wish on anybody. The whole set is worth scrolling through, but n.b.: #23 is probably NSFW and definitely stomach-churning.
