If you already saw the post two weeks ago on the Rosslyn Jazz Festival and made plans to attend, it might just be an annoyance to tell you that there’s another festival going on the same day, at the same time, in Silver Spring.

The Silver Spring Jazz Festival takes place at Veterans Field from 2:30 to 10:30 pm. The headliner, trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, performs at 9:00. Preceding him will be vocalist Ethel Ennis, the Marcus Johnson Project, Frederic Yonnet, Dani Cortaza, and three local high-school jazz ensembles. There will also be a judged cutting contest. (The full schedule can be found here.)

Sunday, of course, opens this year’s Duke Ellington Jazz Festival in the District. Black Plastic Bag will be covering the fest.
