As part of the continuing $1 sale/going-out-of-business festivities local steampunk/choose-your-own-adventure rockers The Cassettes will be playing a free-show Saturday night at Orpheus Records. It’s worth stopping by to see the show, but also to pick up The Cassettes new record, which they’ve chosen to release in fun-pack form—which includes a toy horse, a cassette tape, and a miniature Lamborghini Countach.
Record shopping-wise, Orpheus has become a bone-yard full of relics from the record stores of yore, with some leftovers hanging around from Now Music & Fashion and a few other long-deceased stores still kicking around. So, there’s still plenty of interesting records, you know, if you’re into Janis Ian, Shoes, bedwetter pop 7″s…er..I’m pretty sure there was a Cold Cold Hearts single in there somewhere, and at least one record by a certain CP staffer.
