Just a quick heads up that WRGW’s Funkadelic Freestlyes returns to web radio tonight. In the past few years the weekly GWU show has evolved into a minor hotbed for the city’s burgeoning underground rap scene. Raheem Devaughn signee Phil Ade will be stopping by for tonight’s premiere. Tune in at 8 PM EST. WRGW still does’t have an actual radio signal but you can listen live online at GWRadio.com. (Really though radio waves are so passe.)

The crew also released a new mixtape The Offseason to celebrate the occasion. Mixed by Jerome Baker III, the tape featuers exclusives from local favorites like XO, Oddisee and Pro’Verb alongside national backpack rap stalwarts like Akrobatik and Finale.

(Full disclosure: though I don’t know the FF fam personally, I did host my own show at WRGW for several years. I’m proud to watch those guys turn our little slipshod operation into something bigger.)
