Obama’s humor was a hit at Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner. As for host Jay Leno’s, not so much.

We got an extra dose of star power here in the District over the weekend, with Hollywood-types arriving in droves for the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. In his second time hosting the event, Jay Leno garnered a decided fail from the media. Because we know you’re dying to know: Jay was asked to host before all the shit with Conan O’Brien went down; and yes, Conan has hosted the event too, back in 1995.

The Post created a gallery of red carpet arrivals. We’ve gone through the trouble of viewing the whole thing and picked out some highlights for you.

Slide 1: Kate Capshaw looks flapper-chic in a Faye Dunaway-from-Bonnie-and Clyde-style beret and strands of pearls. Along with her husband, Steven Speilberg, she appears with Hollywood power couple Michelle Pfeiffer and David E. Kelley.

Slide 10: Adrian Grenier has cut his hair. Though he’s no longer got that endearingly shaggy, I-need-to-run-my-fingers-through-those-curls-right-now thing going for him, he’ll still undoubtedly be a hit with the ladies.

Slide 18: With his hand around her waist and his eyes locking with hers, Alec Baldwin appears to be exercising his considerable charm on actress Ali Wentworth, who is also the wife of George Stephanopoulos. Mariska Hargitay is standing near and looking kind of deranged, but cheerful.

Slide 30: The phrase “age-appropriate” doesn’t seen to resonate with Donatella Versace. Peroxide blond hair and dresses slit to the upper-thigh are questionable at any age, but especially when you’re well past 50. Madonna, there’s a lesson in this for you, too.

Slide 33: Odd-couple Fred Armisen, SNL‘s resident Obama, andMad Men‘s Elisabeth Moss demonstrate their palpable love for each other in a cute, not gross, way.
