For this week’s Summer Music Guide, we were lucky to have cover and inside art from Emily Flake, a Brooklyn-based illustrator who’s done work for tons of august places like the New Yorker and the New York Times—- not to mention, over the years,  Washington City Paper. We used to run her comic strip, too, back when, y’know, we ran comic strips.

But her lovely cover illustration left us somewhat flummoxed: What, we wondered, is this lady listening to?

Flake has a few ideas, but before I share them, I’m wondering what you think.

Let me know in the comments, or drop me an e-mail. Whoever comes up with the best, most entertaining, most original guess wins a free trip to my office, which is overstuffed with various cultural items I have no time to consume. You can then take home one (1) of them. Just don’t take my computer. I need that.
