Good morning, rainy Wednesday. Gloomy weather is perfectly suitable when I have a massive paper to write, but things could always be worse.

Remember when Warner Bros. was set to build a Harry Potter theme park in Florida? Who wasn’t giddy with excitement? London mayor Boris Johnson though, urging for a London locale, thinks it’s “utterly mad” that Americans are the ones “to make money from a great British Invention.” A London home makes perfect sense though; Dobby would not like it in Florida.

In other mentions: Lil Jon’s still got it going on, the U.K. denied entry to Chris Brown, and a couple of notables died of cancer: Steve Reuther, who produced Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing, and postmodern experimental novelist David Markson, have passed away. I never quite understood the whole postmodern thing–after reading one of Thomas Pynchon’s works, the only word I could place for it was chaos–but I liked it. Anyway, here are some other works for summer sand and bedside tables, if you’re not into vampires, onions and garlic, or crassness.

Conan O’Brien appeared before a sold out audience last night at DAR Constitution Hall. The Twitterverse seemed confused over his #eisenmug hashtag–it stood for the Eisenhower mug he always used to keep at his desk, our Brooke Hatfield tweeted in explanation to Arts Editor Jonathan Fischer.

Local love Typefighter is playing at the Rock & Roll Hotel tomorrow. World Cup kick off is in 2 days–a whole month of pints and futbol! If you’re not into any of that, Fischer has some consolation prizes.

All right, it’s time to mosey on. Don’t forget your cute rain boots and an umbrella, or in my non-umbrella-believin’ case, a hoodie.
