Sick of big-name publishers and authors getting all the literary buzz? So’s Barrelhouse, a thoughtful D.C.-based literary magazine with a penchant for pop culture (think Mr. T and The Hills). Tonight Barrelhouse is bringing our attention to small presses and lit mags at Wonderland Ballroom, kicking off a series designed to spotlight new literary voices.

Publishing Genius and Narrow House, both from Baltimore, are on tap tonight, with readings from Natalie Lyalin, Mike Young, and Rachel Glaser from Publishing Genius, and Ric Royer and Adam Robinson from Narrow House.

Barrelhouse has the lineup set through November, and Dzanc Books, Big Lucks, Moon Milk Review, Rose Metal Press, Open Letters Monthly, and Artifice will all be appearing. And do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Barrelhouse or check out their blog. There’s great writing going on just under our noses.

BARRELHOUSE HOSTS A READING TONIGHT AT 7 P.M. AT WONDERLAND BALLROOM, 1101 KENYON ST. NW. (202) 232-5263.
