Back in January, I spoke with local rapper Phil Adéduring a Haiti-relief benefit at the 9:30 Club—-mostly about serious issues, but also about his series of mix tapes. He released the first, Starting on JV, last year via neo-soul crooner Raheem DeVaughn‘s 368 Music Group, and he told me he hopes to make a tetralogy of high-school-themed tapes. The sophomore installment, he said, would be called The Letterman.
I pointed out that athletes generally don’t earn a varsity letter until junior year. He smiled.
Anyway: The Letterman dropped about 20 minutes ago. I’m listening now. Grab it for free here.
