Good morning, everyone! Another lovely, rainy Monday. The last full week of August has arrived, and the kids are heading back to school—-where did the summer go?

In theaters this past weekend, The Switch, based on a short story by Jeffrey Eugenides, author of Middlesex and The Virgin Suicides, proved to be “disarmingly winning.” Strange. A romantic comedy with pleasant reviews—-perhaps I shall check it out when it gets to Redbox. If Marc Ruffalo is more your cup of tea–The Kids Are All Right is still playing this week at the AFI Silver Theatre.

The Woolly Mammoth’s “In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play” kicks off today.A WaPo piece says:

“Let’s talk about sex, shall we?

No?

Too awkward?

If you think it’s a taboo subject even in the age of Kardashians and sexting, imagine how it might go over if you were a lace-collared lady of the 1800s.”

In case you missed it–a viral campaign for The Last Exorcism hit chatroulette recently. Unsuspecting men, simply trying to get off to an attractive female, got the shit scared out of them when the girl suddenly becomes possessed by the devil. Take a gander, if you’re strong of  heart. I’ll be using my time trying to get on Far Out vs. Hot Dang.

In other news, Wyclef Jean plans to appeal his rejection to be a candidate in Haiti’s November presidential election. Spike Lee has produced another documentary on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, as the five-year anniversary of the tragic hurricane creeps up. If God is Willing and da Creek Don’t Rise will air on HBO, in two parts Monday and Tuesday nights.
