Curators are currently moving artwork from the Phillips Collection’s attic area after a fire this morning.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Pete Peringer tells Arts Desk that the blaze began at about 8:30 a.m and was contained by the museum’s sprinkler system. Fire fighters put it out soon after. He said there’s some water and smoke damage to the area affected, though he doesn’t know the full extent. He didn’t know if any artwork was damaged. The fire department is still there working with curators, he says.

A spokesperson for the Phillips says the museum will release a statement soon.
