The trial of Caralee Cottle, who is accused of the second-degree murder of noted area goth Dirk Smiler, has been pushed back to Jan. 10, 2011 at 10 a.m. It had been scheduled to start on Nov. 1.
Smiler died of a gunshot wound to the head on Feb. 15 this year.
Peter D. Greenspun, Cottle’s lawyer and a prominent defense attorney in Virginia, said today that he requested the delay because of a capital murder case he is working on that should “go right up to or over top of” the Jan. 10 start date.
I asked him where Cottle is right now. He demurred. “That’s all I have to say. I don’t have anything else to say,” he said.
