It may look like an ominous (or perfect for Halloween—-you decide!) bill at first glance, but the three bands Sockets Records has lined up tonight at the Red Door are a sure-fire way to clear your head before this weekend’s clusterfuck.
Skeleton$, whose Bus LP for Sockets is due early next year, blends woozy, deconstructed synth pop and Avey Tare-style vocals for pretty amazing results. Openers Buildings just played with Xiu Xiu and have a new 7-inch out in the next few months, and Mirror Gate is the perfect group for doom-metal and Yu-Gi-Oh enthusiasts alike.
More importantly, this might be your last chance to be surrounded by locals before the city is overrun by fake protesters and Huffington Post fanboys this weekend. You’ve been warned.
Tickets are $8.
