If you didn’t attend the funeral of Politics and Prose co-owner and founder Carla Cohen but still want to pay your respects, this Sunday’s your chance. Family, friends, colleagues, and customers will gather at Politics and Prose to celebrate Cohen’s life and her contributions to D.C.’s literary community. Expect reminiscences by business partner Barbara Meade, a slideshow of photographs, and light refreshments following the program. To give you an idea of the respect that Cohen and Meade have engendered in the publishing industry, the memorial will be underwritten by Penguin, Harper Collins, Simon and Schuster, W.W. Norton, Perseus, Macmillan, and Random House. The store is preparing for a standing room-only event, and the upstairs registers will be closed from 1 to 3 p.m. In the event that you can’t make it, the memorial will be livestreamed; later on the program will be available in C-SPAN’s online digital archive.
The Carla Cohen memorial tribute takes place Sunday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. at Politics and Prose, 5015 Connecticut Ave. NW. (202) 364-1919.
