Kriston Capps calls in with this update: Nonprofit art space Transformer is organizing an action tomorrow in protest of the National Portrait Gallery’s removal of David Wojnarowicz‘s 1987 video artwork, A Fire in My Belly. Participants plan to walk from Transformer to the National Portrait Gallery with “their mouths bound,” according to Transformer, in protest of what they say is an act of censorship. The action will begin at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow at Transformer, at 1404 P Street NW, and the march to the gallery will begin at 6 p.m.
Transformer announced earlier today that it is screening a version of the removed video art. Check back for updates.
