Loose Lips has the details: Ward 8 Councilmember Marion Barry has released a tax proposal that he says would raise $41.1 million by extending the city’s sales tax to a number of areas it doesn’t currently cover, including admission to live performances—-this to allow, he says, the City Council to keep some social services funding that might otherwise get axed under Mayor Adrian Fenty‘s current budget proposal.
