For a while, Jessica Louise Dye lived out of her car. So you can hear a lot of experience in the songs she writes for the D.C. outfit Lightfoot, a project she initiated following something of a messy breakup. For our wintry parking-deck video series, she performed a pair of the band’s lovelorn, rainy-day folk ballads, “1963” and “City Girls.” The group released a three-song demo last year, and has some vinyl in the works for later in 2011.
