The Avett Brothers brought their banjo, cellos, and kick-drum hearts to a sold-out DAR Constitution Hall Friday evening, ready to rock. How does folk music rock, you ask? With influences that include as much Joey Ramone as Ralph Stanley and Scott Joplin, the Avetts’ music is, much like Dylan at Newport, changing the definition of how folk music is thought of and experienced. Unlike Dylan though, the response to the Avetts is not to boo, but to dance.
