Sarah Glidden‘s religio-travelogue How to Understand Israel in 60 Days or Less (Vertigo, $24.99) was one of my favorite books of 2010 (as I noted here). Glidden will speak about her book tomorrow at the Jewish Community Center. Glidden depicts herself as initially sympathetic to Palestinians, but her views about the Arab-Israeli conflict evolve over the course of the narrative. Was this a true reflection of her experience, or an invention for her graphic novel? Ask her. I’m curious, too. Tickets are $5, less than the cost of a matinee movie.
Glidden speaks at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Washington, D.C., Jewish Community Center, 1529 16th St. NW.
