Atmospheric art punk, when done poorly, can be the stuff of pouting boys and overly dramatic lyrics, cheesiness and black eyeliner. But when done well, it means that the band in question probably paid close attention to the high priests of the sound, Wire. The group played last night at the Black Cat in support of its 12th record, Red Barked Tree, and it was tough fighting the urge to pogo. Weekend opened with an impressive set.
