Back in March, for our Best of D.C. issue, I named Moombahton D.C.’s Best Microgenre for Slowing Your Roll. Well, almost.
Moombahton is pretty cool, but then again, so is slow bounce, the soupy, languorous variant of go-go that the kids seems to be all about these days. Then I suggested someone blend the two sounds, and call it Moombahbounce.
I thought for a second that Austin’s DJ Orion had answered my call. But it turns out his brand new Moombounce EP is a blend of Moombahton and New Orleans bounce, which I guess I’m fine with, although at this point there are way too many sub-sub-genres of Moombahton for me to keep track of.
