Sade, Accused Smack Addict?: Chris Richards talks to the famously un-chatty British singer in a Post story yesterday, published right in time for her concert at the Verizon Center last night. “Radio interviews are really snappy and I’m just bad at that,” Sade says. “I just close down… I get a reputation of being a smack addict or something because I’m just not snappy.”

The Great Unveiling: In a fascinating essay published yesterday on the New York Times website, Jose Antonio Vargas, a former Washington Post reporter among other things, “came out” as an illegal immigrant. A former boss writes that Vargas “duped” him.

Cherry, Popped: Cherry Red Productions announced yesterday that it’s shutting down after a final performance of “The Aristocrats” at Warehouse Theater in August. You read that right. Yesterday on Arts Desk: Alex Baca explores the events leading up to the overhaul of Artisphere’s business plan; Jonathan L. Fischer talks to DJ/music historian Kevin Coombe and reissue specialists Numero Group about their plans to shed light on vintage D.C. soul recordings.
