On Monday, Lyriciss dropped an eight-song EP, The Balance: Respect, on which the New Carrollton native is no longer the underdog. His soundtrack, courtesy of Grussle, J-Scrilla, and Chop-La-Rok, is equally distinctive and subdued, which plays well against Lyriciss’ charismatic flow. “Super Bad,” with its prevalent squeaks and horns, feels like a theme song to a 1970s crime saga. Conversely, “Stop Scheming,” and its hilarious Ray J rant, sounds overtly West Coast.
Respect is the first of four EPs from Lyriciss. Go here to download it. The next project, Money, is scheduled to drop early next year. Below is the official video for “#TheBalance.”
