“Where the hell can I find that Vanilla Fudge rarity in this podunk town?” Surely, we’ve all had that thought before, especially when visiting loved ones in other cities. Lord knows when you need a Pavement 7-inch and you’re miles from your usual record shop, it can get ugly. Well, no need to panic this year, local record geek Jon Meyers and his ever-growing blog network The Vinyl District have you covered. (Full disclosure: They’ve written about my band’s music before.)
Yesterday, the record-junkies released an app to sooth the scourge of traveling vinyl-addicts everywhere. Aside from providing all the blog’s standard content, The Vinyl District’s app has a GPS locator that quickly searches for all the local music shops nearby, so you can pick up that primo Burrito Brothers LP in no time. It’s a marvel no one has launched this before, actually. The free app is available for both Droid and iPhone.
