A Hard Look at Monticello: The National Museum of African American History breaks ground this month, but it won’t be complete until 2015. Still, its scholarly work has already begun. Its first show—-now up at the National Museum of American History—-is “Slavery at Jefferson’s Monticello: Paradox of Liberty,” which looks at the views of the third president and the slaves who lived and worked at his plantation.
