Chuck Brown has been sick for several weeks and is currently hospitalized, according to a Facebook post from his family over the weekend, but it’s not clear what exactly ails the Godfather of Go-Go. “Joint pain and inflammation” caused his show this weekend at the Howard Theatre to be postponed until June. And a couple weeks ago, Brown wrote:

Much love and thanks for all the support ya’ll been giving me these past few weeks. I’m still in recovery mode, but doing better and looking forward to partying with ya’ll again soon! I’m grateful for all the well wishes and kind notes – there’s no love like DC love!

I imagine Brown appreciates the outpouring of support he saw yesterday when Parliament‘s Bootsy Collins directed some Facebook love in his direction:

Funkateers, we call on Yr Prayers & Love vibes for our friend “Chuck Brown” the Godfather of Go-Go. He needs a Speedy Recovery. No more Details at this time.

Still, while Bootsy played on the song “Dr. Funkenstein,” he’s not a medical professional. I left messages for Brown’s manager and booking agent asking for more information, but haven’t heard back.

Brown’s Howard performance has been rescheduled for June 29.
