Is it even worth presenting a unified theory of punk-band reunions at this point? No! Just button your cardigan higher, clutch your “Falsetto Keeps Time” 7-inch closer, and enjoy the fact that The Promise Ring is playing again. (Alex Baca) Read more>>>

SATURDAY
Among many attractions, the third annual D.C. Africa Festival includes an “Afropolitan Fashion Show.” Bright ankara cloth is all the rage, but don’t sleep on the muted beauty of mud cloth. If sartorial statements aren’t your thing, there will also be live music, food, a children’s village, and tunes from DJ Underdog, who knows the sounds of the African diaspora better than anyone. The D.C. Africa Festival runs from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Banneker Community Center’s Upper Field, Georgia Avenue and Euclid Street NW. Free. africafestival.eventbrite.com. (202) 727-5634.
SUNDAY
A place where it’s encouraged to laugh for no reason and to take the time to breathe sounds like something embraced only by blissed-out West Coasters. But for certified laughter-yoga leader Diane Cohen, a combination of giggles and meditation is the key to relaxation. (Stephanie Haven) Read more>>>

EAT THIS
Top Chef season 2 contestant Emily Sprissler opens her Glover Park gastropub Mayfair & Pine today. Sprissler will serve as executive chef alongside her husband Jason Cote, the chef de cuisine. One the menu: British classics like fish and chips and shepherd’s pie as well as seafood offerings like ciopinno to pay homage to her former home of San Francisco. The restaurant will also cater to kids with made-from-scratch chicken strips, grilled cheese, and more. (Sprissler and Cote have an almost-four-year-old.) Also worth noting is the drink menu, which lists beers and wines by the number of miles between their point of origin and the restaurant. Mayfair & Pine, 2218 Wisconsin Ave. NW. (202) 333-2090. mayfairandpine.com. (Stephanie Haven)
