In coming years D.C. may see  a Chuck Brown memorial in Langdon Park, but for now, if you want to remember the Godfather of Go-Go, you won’t go wrong going to the Howard Theatre’s “Wind Me Up, Chuck! Mondays.” The regular concerts—they’re calling them “endearing legacy” shows—will feature members of The Chuck Brown Band alongside musicians who inspired or were inspired by Brown. George Clinton plays the first concert tonight, sharing the stage with players D Floyd, Scooby, Sweet Cherie, Kenny “Kwickfoot” Gross, Mighty Mo Hagans,Karlston “Ice” Ross, Marcus Young, Greg Boyer, Bryan Mills, Brad Clements, and Brown’s daughter KK. Jaleo‘s Paella Festival begins today with food specials and events until Sept. 20. “Master of Paella” Rafael Vidal, whose family has served paella to kings and queens for three generations, is in from Benisano, Spain, with his own paella recipes. Join the kick-off festivities at Jaleo Crystal City tonight from 6-8 p.m. (RSVP at rsvp@jaleo.com.) Throughout the festival, each Jaleo location will serve rotating paella specials that feed four to six people and cost $40 to $65. Some of the highlights include a paella of black noodles with octopus and another with Iberco ribs and cauliflower. There are also a number of specialty cocktails to go with the paella, including one with saffron-infused gin. Jaleo head chef Ramon Martinez will lead $25 cooking classes (paella lunch included) on Sept. 19 and Sept. 26 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Jaleo Bathesa. The classes are limited to 15 people. We’re at the halfway point between the last St. Patrick’s Day and the next one—-hence this year’s Irish Book Day from Irish arts presenters Solas Nua. They’re handing out books by contemporary Irish authors—-for free—-at the Judiciary Square, Dupont Circle, Columbia Heights, and Gallery Place Metro stops, as well as at MLK Library, 901 G St. NW. But why not at the NoMa Metro stop, located in the former Swampoodle?
