If you are still unfamiliar with Heavy Breathing, a band that stems from The Apes, then this new song “Wander Longer” is an epic summation of why you should get down with these people.* Whatever they do, it tends to involve the grooveness of funk and the rockness of punk, and the end results are often weirdly badass or loudly lurid. “Wander Longer” has some of the phat-bottomed feel of dank ol’ Apes jams, but it also picks up where last year’s Heavy Breathing album Body Problems left off: with synths and samples pointing the way toward an electro-rock singularity.

* The Apes were all humans. Heavy Breathing is three humans and a machine.
