“We’re still kind of learning how to make our songs,” Gil Wojcik told Washington City Paper last fall. “Every song is a new way of approaching [making music].” Wojcik is one half of the Hyattsville pop duo Ploy, whose song “Fool” we spotlighted in an October One Track Mind column. Monday, the duo released its latest track, “VRDSNT,” and it’s clear the members of Ploy have learned a few things about writing music since we last spoke to them.

Wojcik and bandmate Justin Victoria already have a firm grasp on the synthpop earworm thing. If you didn’t hear hear “X I X”—-co-produced by Charles B.—-from a couple of months ago, listen to that jam after the jump. It was Ploy’s most sophisticated yet. “VRDSNT” comes pretty close to replicating that tune’s twinkly magic. More of this, please.

Ploy plays Velvet Lounge on Friday, April 19, and Rock & Roll Hotel on Thursday, April 25.
