“How many of you came with your dancing shoes on?” asked Solange at the 9:30 Club show last night. “How many of you came with the wrong shoes but you’re gonna dance anyway?” The sold-out show was short: She played only 12 songs, and that included a two-song encore. But throughout the show, both onstage and off, the dancing never stopped.

Kicking off the night with her excellent song “Some Things Never Seem to Fucking Work,” Solange and her band then played the rest of her 2012 EP True, in addition to some covers (Dirty Projectors and Selena) and two older tracks, “Cosmic Journey” and “Sandcastle Disco.” By the time she closed her set with “Losing You,” the entire audience had hands in the air, pogoing in time with the band. The singer’s sister Beyoncé might be the bigger celebrity, but Solange’s fans wouldn’t let you know the difference.
