Mt. Pleasant resident and Beautiful Swimmers member Andrew Field-Pickering has chalked up another alias: As Dolo Percussion, the producer and Future Times label co-founder has just released a four-song solo release via New York label L.I.E.S.

As with a lot of the music Field-Pickering generates, the sounds find their way online well before the vinyl is shipped. The slightly percolated, perfectly popped “Dolo 4” can be found in full on Soundcloud, while two other Dolo cuts from the EP bring the bubble-and-clack to a mix Field-Pickering did under his Maxmillion Dunbar moniker for FACT magazine. As critic Philip Sherburne says about the Dolo project on Spin: “endlessly cascading snares go off like Russian nesting dolls stuffed with firecrackers.” That’s awesome. (And it’s OK if you want to look up “dolo.”)

Up next for Field-Pickering and his Future Times labelmates Protect-U: a heavily dub-oriented show for the Red Bull Music Academy in New York on May 30. The site says it’s sold out, but a recording will be available through the organization’s radio site. Aaron Leitko, one-half of Protect-U, says the Future Times set will involve blending pieces of Max tunes and Protect-U tunes, and the results will be mixed live with dub effects by Aaron Coyes of L.A. duo Peaking Lights.

Sooner, and closer to home, Leitko and Protect-U mate Mike Petillo will be doing a DJ set in support of Shit Robot on May 23 at the U Street Music Hall.
