Mention Alice Walker to most readers and they’ll probably rattle off some details about The Color Purple, her 1982 novel that won nearly every literary award possible.  But beyond her most lasting literary achievement, the rest of Walker’s impressive résumé is less publicized. In addition to writing more than a dozen books, she’s also a notable activist, and she’s not slowing down anytime soon: The author has two more books in the hopper. Tonight, she’ll discuss them—and perhaps the rest of her adventures—with all of the readers who can squeeze inside Busboys and Poets. Read more >>> The program begins at 6:30 p.m. at Busboys and Poets, 2021 14th St. NW. Free. (202) 387-7638. busboysandpoets.com. (Caroline Jones)
