Summer can officially begin now: Screen on the Green has announced its 2013 lineup. This year, as usual, the organizers have picked classics safe for the scrum of 15,000 viewers who camp out to watch movies on the National Mall every year.

The festival kicks off on Monday, July 22 with a screening of E.T. the Extraterrestrial, and continues for the next three weeks. The Sally Field labor union drama Norma Rae shows on July 29, followed on August 5 by Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original with Gene Wilder, not that Johnny Depp nonsense). Screen on the Green concludes August 12 with Tootsie, aka that movie with Dustin Hoffman in a wig and red sequins.

As usual, the screenings begin at sunset on the National Mall between 7th and 12th streets NW.
