We learned this morning that The Evens are opening this summer’s free outdoor concert series at Fort Reno, and now we know the rest: The Fort Reno website finally posted the full schedule. The 10-show lineup includes local indie-rock faves like Typefighter, Southern Problems, Priests, Joy Buttons, Sunwolf, and Mary Christ, with Paint Branch—-the duo of ex-Q and Not U bandmates Chris Richards and John Davis—-closing out the summer on August 8.
One of the more intriguing lineups is on July 18, with the band Bearshark opening for the classical ensemble The Washington Bach Consort. Well, why not? Stranger things have happened at Fort Reno before.
Fort Reno tends to save a couple of extra dates at the end of its schedule for rain checks, which could mean the slight chance of some additional bands. Like, you know, a certain recently reunited quartet with some legendary Fort Reno gigs to its name.
The shows, which are free and take place Mondays and Thursdays from July 8 to August 8, start at 7:15 p.m. and end by 9:30. The park is at Chesapeake and Nebraska streets NW. You know the rules about dogs and babies (bring them!) and booze, drugs, and glass bottles (do not!). Here’s the full schedule:
July 8: The Evens
July 11: Feed the Bird, Typefighter, Blockhead
July 15: Thundermilk, The Obsessives, Joy Buttons
July 18: Bearshark, Washington Bach Consort
July 22: The Mauls, Southern Problems
July 25: Capital Ghost, The Buzz
July 29: Humble Fire, The Accidentals, Priests
Aug. 1: Nervous Impulse, Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, The Sniffs
