RDGLDGRN has made tremendous strides since its members split up The Five One and linked with drummer Dave Grohl. In February, the Reston, Va., band released an EP and performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and just a quick look at their Instagram shows recent tour stops in Denver, London, and Ireland.
Accordingly, RDGLDGRN’s new video, “Lootin’ in London,” was shot in London. “The video is football hooligan,” GREEN told me. “We love hooligan movies, and the culture that surrounds the sport is similar to the straight-edge attitude and punk scene in the ’80s. So the song is basically a football chant about being into ’80s hardcore punk.”
On this track, GREEN recycles a memorable verse from The Five One’s unreleased “May to June”: “I make rock music/Yeah, even though/My skin black, real black, Eddie Winslow.” “Lootin’ in London” is the next single from RDGLDGRN’s forthcoming LP. Watch the video after the jump.
