Lady Gaga loves H Street NE. A few years back, she stopped by Bikram Yoga Capitol Hill after playing a show at the Verizon Center the previous night. Now she’s collaborating with H Street neighbor Industry Gallery for the promo art on her latest single, which comes out Aug. 19.
In the image (which is also her current Twitter photo), Lady Gaga appears with “Binary Chair,” a 2011 design by Benjamin Rollins Caldwell, whose work is represented exclusively by Industry’s Craig Appelbaum. The photo was taken in Los Angeles, where Industry shows Caldwell and other designers from his stable via the Pacific Design Center. Caldwell’s work—-which includes tables made from aluminum soda cans and nickel upholstery and chairs riddled with .22-caliber gun shots—-will head to Miami for Art Basel Miami Beach in December.
Industry, situated in Trinidad on Florida Avenue NE, is one of possibly very few galleries in the United States devoted exclusively to contemporary design. If Gaga wants her 26 Asanas with some 21st-century design, there aren’t many other places to go.
